Building on the success of GAIL’s range sold in Waitrose shops and online, the new takeaway bakery will open on 6th June 2024.
Waitrose Canary Wharf is set to make history as the first store to host an in-store GAIL’s takeaway bakery. This exciting development follows the success of dedicated GAIL’s bakery sections introduced in 64 Waitrose stores over the past year.
The new bakery, crafted in GAIL’s signature style, spans 280 square feet. Waitrose Canary Wharf customers will soon enjoy an extensive selection of fresh breads, baked goods, and speciality coffee, all prepared on-site. In addition to offering takeaway options, customers can utilise GAIL’s click and collect service. Furthermore, the bakery will provide home and office delivery for its sharing ranges, ensuring that the freshly baked goodness is accessible to a wider audience.
Today’s announcement underlines Waitrose’s commitment to enhancing the shopping experience for its customers. Last year saw a record number of shoppers, and the introduction of GAIL’s bakery is part of a broader strategy to invest in Waitrose stores through upgrades, refurbishments, and new openings.
Nathan Ansell, Customer Director at Waitrose, expressed his enthusiasm: “Building on our successful partnership with the launch of a new and innovative GAIL’s bakery is hugely exciting. Synonymous with quality, expertise, and taste, GAIL’s very much reflects our own core values and we know how much our food-loving customers enjoy their products.”
Marta Pogroszweska, GAIL’s Managing Director, added: “We are delighted to be opening one of our neighbourhood bakeries within the Canary Wharf Waitrose. We look forward to further strengthening our partnership with Waitrose and welcoming the community to our latest craft bakery.”
The Waitrose Canary Wharf store accounts for nearly 5 percent of total GAIL’s sales within Waitrose outlets. Nationally, sales of GAIL’s products in Waitrose stores have surged by 35 percent year on year, highlighting the growing popularity of GAIL’s artisanal offerings among Waitrose shoppers.
As GAIL’s continues to expand its footprint, the new in-store bakery at Waitrose Canary Wharf is poised to become a beloved fixture for locals and office workers alike, offering a convenient and high-quality option for freshly baked goods and speciality coffee. This collaboration not only signifies the strength of the GAIL’s and Waitrose partnership but also promises to elevate the shopping experience for all customers.
