Nissan Formula E Team has taken an innovative approach to marketing with its latest campaign, ‘Department of Futures’, which features young children playing a central role in questioning the team’s commitments to electric mobility. The campaign is part of Nissan’s broader effort to engage with the younger generation, highlighting their commitment to an electrified future.
Survey Shows Youth Eager for Electric Mobility
A recent global survey conducted by OnePoll for Nissan, involving 6,000 young participants from Brazil, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the UK, and the US, has revealed significant interest among youth in electric vehicles and sustainability. The survey indicates that more than half of the respondents are keen on driving electric cars to help save the environment, with 68% viewing the fight against climate change as a crucial issue.
Engaging the Next Generation
The campaign features Nissan’s Formula E drivers Oliver Rowland and Sacha Fenestraz and team principal Tommaso Volpe being put to the test by a group of perceptive children aged between 7 and 10. The film showcases these young minds challenging the team on their performance and commitments, ensuring that Nissan stays true to its pledges, including the introduction of 27 new electrified vehicles by the end of the decade.
Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal at Nissan Formula E, highlighted the significance of the campaign: “We realize the importance of providing the next generation with the tools to continue fighting climate change through electric mobility. This campaign helps us connect with young people and show them we are serious about leading the way in electric vehicle development.”
Nissan’s Continued Commitment to Formula E
Nissan’s involvement in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is a major component of its strategy. The company made its debut in the all-electric racing series in the 2018/19 season and has since committed to the Gen3 and Gen4 eras of the championship, reinforcing its dedication to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
The campaign, which launched on social and digital channels on July 11, not only entertains with elements like a celebratory dance and an impromptu yoga session but also carries a serious message about Nissan’s ongoing commitment to electrification.
Formula E: A Platform for Innovation and Sustainability
The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is recognized for its commitment to sustainability, being the first global sport certified with a net-zero carbon footprint since its inception. This commitment aligns with Nissan’s goal of electrifying its new vehicle offerings by the early 2030s in key markets, using the race series as a platform to test and develop advanced electric vehicle technologies.
Nissan’s innovative approach in ‘Department of Futures’ not only underscores their leadership in electric mobility but also serves as a call to action for the automotive industry to prioritize the environmental concerns of future generations.
